Jessi is inspired by the dedication and creativity of nonprofit organizations and works to foster effective and empathetic grantmaking practices for PFS client foundations. As Vice President of Program & Engagement, she manages the Program Team, providing department oversight while working with the team to ensure best practices and the highest quality of service are centered in our work. Jessi also oversees all communication and engagement efforts for PFS, which includes ensuring open and clear channels between the nonprofit community and client foundations, highlighting the critical work of community-led change, and celebrating values-based giving. Jessi also provides comprehensive support and leadership for multiple clients, managing the daily business of a foundation’s philanthropic vision while prioritizing inclusive, effective practices.
Jessi joined PFS in 2009 as a member of the grants management team and expanded her role over the years after transitioning to the role of program officer in 2012. Her program specialties include arts and arts education, youth mental health and wellness, coupled with her passion for social justice particularly in food and education systems. Prior to joining PFS, Jessi worked in the nonprofit youth development and arts education sector for over seven years. She held program and development roles with organizations such as 826 Valencia, Open Roads, Summer Search, and the Boys & Girls Clubs of the Twin Cities. This experience directly informs and motivates Jessi’s approach to grantmaking.
Jessi earned a BS in multidisciplinary studies at Minneapolis College of Art & Design. She also holds a Creative Nonfiction Writing Certificate from the Salt Institute for Documentary Studies, in Portland, Maine.
A transplant from Minnesota, Jessi’s Midwest roots run deep though she now lives in the North Bay with her husband, Matt, and two young sons. Outside of work, you can find Jessi cheering from the sidelines of whatever sport her kids are enjoying these days or taking full advantage of local beaches and restaurants.
